Next Sunday morning we will be observing All Saints Day (which is actually November 1st). All Saints is a feast when we remember exemplary Christians, like the patriarchs and prophets in Scripture, while All Souls Day, November 2nd is a day to celebrate all Christians. This focus on the past helps us gain wisdom in the present. We can learn from the saints who have gone before us, and imitate their holy examples. They were not perfect people, but neither are we and by faith we can strive to grow in grace and holiness to be more like Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith.
This year to celebrate All Saints and All Souls we will read names in the Prayers of the People of friends and family members who have passed away in the last year who we would like to commend to God. If you would like to add names to this list, please send them to Joan Coleman, our parish administrator at firstname.lastname@example.org by the morning of Thursday November 1.
